There’s a bias against Asian players in general despite them rarely flopping like people’s fears suggest. Lee Young-Pyo was solid for us, Park Ji-Sung was incredible for Man U, Tomiyasu has been great for the runners, KMJ is doing bits for Napoli.

아시아 선수를 픽하는 것에대한 두려움 같은 편견이 있는듯. 이미 성공한 케이스가 있는데도 말이야. 토트넘 이영표도 꽤 쓸만했고 맨유의 박지성은 진짜 대단했어. 토미야스도 지금 잘하고 있고, 김민재는 지금 나폴리를 씹어먹고 있지.

100%, if his name were Anthony Edwards he'd have been scooped up by a prem side years ago. Unintentional racial bias is definitely prevalent in football imo

100프로 공감. 만약 그의 이름이 안토니 에드워드였으면 이미 몇년 전부터 이름이 오르락 거렸얼거야. 의도는 아니더라도 축구계에 인종에 대한 편견은 확실히 존재하는듯.

Agreed and I’m still pissed we passed up on Tomiyasu to sign Royal… for £25m no less. That feels more and more like it wasn’t player vs player and like it was more ‘ex-Barca Brazilian vs Asian player’.

맞아. 토미야스 대신에 로얄이랑 계약한거 빡침. 25m 파운드 때문에.... 선수대 선수로 비교된게 아니라 전 바르샤 브라질 선수 대 아시아 선수로 비교당한 느낌이야.

True, though honestly would be a good option as back-up for romero -- replacing Sanchez, plus ability to play as a more defensive RWB (like emerson) when needed.

그르킨한데. 로메로 백업으로 쓰거나 산체스 대신 쓰고 수비적인 RWB로도 쓸 수 있을거야.

These are all players doing very well. But actually we have also seen players like Jahanbaksh / Ji Dong Wan / Park Chi Young / Toda / Qu Bo / Inamoto / Muto, etc who failed to do well in the demanding Premier League. So I will say, not especially risky, but probably as easy to flop as players from other continents.

In hindsight KMJ would be great for us. But if Conte doesn't want him, it is understandable as he was playing from a lower league and Conte wants players who are guaranteed to be able to contribute.

잘하는 애들은 잘하지. 근데 실제로 Jahanbaksh, 지동원, 박주영, 토다, 쿠보, 이나모토, 무토 같은 애들은 PL에서 실패했지. 그래서 나는 타 대륙에서 온 선수는 그냥 넘기는게 더 나을 수도 있다고 봐.

분명 김민재가 토트넘 왔다면 큰 도움이 됐겠지만 하위 리그에서 뛰고 있었던 만큼 콘테는 더 입증된 선수를 원했을 거야.

I agree there are biases against players of certain backgrounds ie the lack of black goalkeepers but in KMJ’s case I thinks it’s more to do with the leagues he came from.

He went from CSL to Turkish League, neither league is famed for producing good players, rather they’re seen as where washed up players collect their last major paycheck.

Son and Hwang Hee-Chan came from the Bundesliga, Tomiyasu from Serie A, Kubo and Kang-In Lee have been/are in La Liga. Anyone picking up Kamada would be signing a Bundesliga proven midfielder.

I agree Asian players rarely ever get picked up by top teams but I believe the league they come from can be an additional obstacle to consider in a club’s recruitment process.

But to counter your point, a lot of these Asian players do not get scouted or invited or given opportunities in these European leagues or clubs to begin with. If your last name was Martinez and you were born in Argentina, or if your last name was Ndongo and you were born in Congo, I promise they would've been scouted and invited to Barcelona C or Manchester United youth camp from the start.

근데 니 주장에 반박하자면, 이 아시아 선수들 중 많은 수가 처음부터 이러한 유럽 리그나 클럽에서 스카우트되거나 초대되거나 기회가 주어지지 않아. 성이 마르티네즈이고 아르헨티나에서 태어났다거나 성이 은동고이고 콩고에서 태어났다면 처음부터 바르셀로나 C나 맨체스터 유나이티드 유스 캠프에 스카우트되어 초대되었을 거야.

Yeah one of the best CBs in the league and a huge reason why Napoli is top of the table. Kvara is another one that we had an eye on that is turning out to be an unbelievable player.

응. 리그 최고 CB 중 하나가 됐어. 나폴리가 1위하는 이유 중 하나지.
